I recently purchased Delicious Library through Macheist. I took a census of my album collection 15 years ago after writing a quick and dirty A4 app. Obviously it didn't have the ability to read my barcodes to look albums up, and subsequently was quite tedious.

Mail.app + Self Signed Certs

I finally realized the key to getting self signed certificates to work with Mail.app after much reading between the lines. The trick is to make sure the Common Name value in your certificate matches the mail server domain name.

Following this advice leads you to a much slower way to access files on your host OS X instance from Parallels. Yes, the Parallels shared filesystem is way slow, but not as slow as doing it over the network device.

I've been hunting for weeks for a utility to swap the Alt/Option keys on my MS keyboard when plugged into my MacBook. There are some scary utilities that will (maybe) do this for you automatically when (un)plugged. But this simple AppleScript does the job flawlessly without fear of bricking your box. Remember to "Enable GUI Scripting" in the AppleScript Utility.

Copying iTunes Playlist Tracks

I'm sure this utility exists somewhere in a more robust implementation, but google hasn't led me to it. So I present for posterity, a simple bash utility to copy the songs in a given playlist to a new location.
