At the Office 2.0 conference, the need for more standards around data exchange and single sign on between applications was a common topic. I believe there is a need to discuss account provisioning as well.

I'll be at the Office 2.0 conference next week (Oct 11-12, 2006). Feel free to drop me a note if attending.
Besides a handful of interesting talks, mostly by Google employees, OSCON just didn't have the energy I found at SXSW Interactive this year. With the steep registration price, most of the interesting people were excluded, leaving mostly corporate sponsored techies in attendance. Also annoyingly, time slots either had many interesting talks simultaneously, or none. I didn't get a sense that the sessions I missed were recorded. Sadly, the one I would choose to attend nearly always turned out to be lame.
Something interesting I found at OSCON is Djinni. Seems there are a number of papers on Compressed Annealing (via Scholar). This is apparently an improvement over Simulated Annealing.
Seems I'll be in PDX all next week attending OSCON, FOSCON, and likely OSCAMP. Bill will also be attending.
Not exactly sure why, but I'll be on a panel Wednesday, October 19th, at the BPX2005 conference in San Diego speaking on BPM. More interestingly, there is an overlapping SOA conference I'll be attending.
