How can you measure how far a given complex System is from the simplest System it can be? Here's a hint: distance = sqrt( Tp^2 + Tm^2 + Tv^2 + Tl^2 )

It finally happened. Apple has broken something in iTunes 7.1.x that prevents iTunes-Lame from copying over meta-data to the newly created mp3 files. Actually, it has shown up occasionally for the past few versions. Now it is consistently failing.

Since the latest OSX 10.4.9 release, I've been unable to load some applications after a few hours of being booted. A reboot fixes things temporarily. Checking the /var/log/system.log, I found many of these messages: lsf_map: unable to allocate mapping.
