SAML Impl

This older article on SAML myths myths enumerates a number of SAML implementations.

Those still available, renamed, or new, are listed here:

Of all those, I've only tested PingFederate when it was in beta. Interestingly it works as a compliment to your existing application and RDBMS back-end, allowing your application to participate as a relying party, asserting party, or both, without significant changes. Their license model allows for "pay as you go", as described here.

  • True Value-Based Pricing -- PingFederate can be installed on as many servers as desired. There are no limits to the number of applications, connections or users that can be integrated. Use of the server, as well as future updates and upgrades, is completely free for up to 100k transactions. Flexible and competitive licensing options are provided beyond this amount.
  • Best-of-Breed Functionality -- PingFederate radically simplifies the deployment and management of identity federation through an easy to install server, comprehensive administrative features, advanced functionality for configuration management, and built-in adaptors for enterprise integration.
  • Simplified Partner Enablement -- Large companies engaged in federation have struggled to overcome the problem of how to enable their diverse set of partners for federation. With PingFederate Now, federation "hubs" can now recommend an all-standards based solution to partners completely risk-free.

Oddly enough they just announced 2.0, and I didn't even know they had a 1.0.
