Please note there is a new version of extractor ready for download. It includes a fix that converts ID3v1 genre codes to text. And also includes a quick and dirty Ruby script to generate 'genre' directories of albums using symlinks. This works great with Tivo HMO for Apache.
The Ruby script uses XMLParser as REXML is way freaking slow.
Probably should have used Python for the whole project in hindsight. I've come to realize the reason I like Java is because I like IDEA. Considering this quote from dirtSimple:
And if you miss your Java IDE, consider the possibility that it's because your Python program is much more complex than it needs to be.
I should probably rethink things a little...
