NetKernel 1.3.0 has been released.

From the site:

"NetKernel embodies the architectural principles (REST) that have made the Web successful. These principles are proven as an excellent way to build systems. They result in robust, adaptive to change, upgradeable, scalable, durable and composable systems. The application of these principles to a microkernel makes NetKernel unique."

After reading this overview I find myself quite impressed. NetKernel seems to take the essence of the servlet model, and makes it composable via standard loosely coupled verbs typically applied by highly modular systems (UNIX). Namely; SOURCE, SINK, DELETE, EXISTS, and NEW.

As a namespace for active and composable resources, realization of the three logical SOA layers contexts can be achieved.

Caveat, I haven't actually used NetKernel, but the idea of it is compelling. The implications for the 'delivery' side of a content management system based on RESTful services are great.

I wonder if there is a command shell?

cat URI | grep PATTERN | sort | uniq > URI

or the XML processing equivalents.
